Magnum is changing for the 2010 Season


Magnum has always been the "Power" section of Carpe Diem Volleyball Club.  The two clubs were run as one club with different names in the past for a reason but this reason is gone now.  So for this season we are putting the Carpe Diem teams under the Magnum name and combining to form one large club.

Due to this combining some changes have to be made to the Magnum program.  There will now be a three level team system that many Elite clubs across the nation currently use.  

The top level will be the "Elite" level: 
An elite team is made up of girls that are the best of their age group and girls seeking to play in college.  This level is where many of Magnum's team have been in the past.  This level will go to more out of region tournaments multiday tournaments and Qualifiers.  They will have 2 coaches on a team and will pay more for this level of play and coaching. We are hoping to have one team of this level for each age group. 

The next level is the Power Level:
These will be teams that will compete in the Power division our the Palmetto Region and also go to 2 large tournaments outside of our region- one of these being a National Qualifier.  We may have 1 or 2 teams in this level of each age group depending on desire and skill level of the players.  They will have 1 head coach per team and 1 assistant coach that may be shared at practice between another team as needed.

The final level is the "Club" level:  
The teams at this level will compete only in tournaments in the Palmetto Region and stay within the state of SC-except the Championship tournament in Charlotte.  They will normally have 1 coach per team and finish the season after the Regional Championships inCharlotte.  This is the level that our Carpe Diem teams have been at in the past.



Where do you fit in?  


You need to come to tryouts and see.  When you fill out your registration form at tryouts you may choose a box to indicate your desired level.  However, your final team placement will be based on your desired level and the level where we feel you will be best placed based on team size and talent level of all players.  At Magnum we try to make our teams so that there is not a large disparity between the players of our teams. 

If you want to do the "Elite" level then you need to fill out the pre-tryout form before you come to tryouts as in the past.  The pre-tryout process is only for the "Elite" level for 2010.
